I wasn't sure whether this should be in the tv section or if it belongs in the archeology section. Since it's a tv show, i thought i'd post it here.
Anyways, i just watched Decoding the Ancients on History Channel, starring Simcha Jacobovici (The Naked Archeologist)
It was pretty interesting. This is the first thing i've seen that shows some sort of evidence to the way they crucified people way back when. I didn't know they had found a heel with a nail in it. Pretty cool. But that's not what the show was about. It was more to show that what was taken as the Caiaphas of the bible may not have been the right one. The more ornamental of the 2 ossuaries that were found was said to be the guy from the bible, but it's more likely the less ornate ossuary would have been the right Caiaphas. Especially when you take into account the inscriptions on the ossuaries themselves. The more ornate one was inscribed with son of Caiaphas, and the less ornate one was inscribed with Caiaphas. Yet this information was neglected when deciding which box was who they wanted it to be. Pure arrogance, much like in Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade upon choosing Christ's chalice used at the last supper. More plain is usually the way to go, and only our arrogance leads us towards the decorated and more ornate belonging to people we see in our day and age as being special.
Anyways, it was an interesting show, and I hope to catch more episodes in this series. I always enjoy watching Simcha in anything he is investigating. I used to watch the naked archeologist all the time.
