    "American Idol"

I never really got into Idol, but wasn't a big part of the draw waiting to see what Simon had to say to the contestants? I mean, Steven Tyler is probably not going to be nasty to people like Simon was. Will it still be as entertaining?

Obama says government shutdown imperils economy

A government shutdown would be a problem, for sure, but he also needs to be worrying about gas prices. If we get back up to $4 a gallon like we did a few years ago, it's going to completely cripple the country.

Libyan regime may face intl justice

What is happening over there is such a tragedy. That madman needs to be ousted once and for all. I heard this morning that Hillary is heading to Geneva to meet with the UN Human Rights Council. Hopefully something will get accomplished.

    Staying closer to home

With all of the unrest in the world, does anyone else find you are traveling closer to home these days? I already had my time overseas years ago and I'm happy I did because I don't see myself going back any time soon. No matter what is going on, there is always a risk when traveling, but things...

    Cloning a woolly mammoth

With new technology, scientists think they may be able to clone a woolly mammoth by extracting soft tissue from a frozen specimen located in a Russian lab. I really don't like these cloning projects. Your thoughts? Scientists to Clone Woolly Mammoth in Five Years - PCWorld

Breast feeding in public, do or don't?

I don't see a problem with it. There are a multitude of ways to be discreet about breastfeeding and as long as women aren't whipping out there tatas in full view it's not a big deal.

Witnesses Saw People 'Vaporized' on 9/11

That's an interesting theory. So, what's the idea here? That the terrorists placed a bomb in the parking garage underneath the WTC before going up in the planes? After seeing what I saw that day, nothing would surprise me.

    Target Areas?

I agree with your list. There are lots of options for terrorists, but those are the biggies. I live about six hours away from Dallas so I'm happy to see you think that would be last.

Woman with Learning Difficulties Could be Forcibly Sterilised

This is really, really disturbing. I'd like some answers. Who got her pregnant in the first place? Does she have a family support system in place? Who is going to be helping her take care of the baby? The idea of a court making such extreme decisions for an individual is really scary.

    Necessity of a Survival Kit?

Absolutely! We are surrounded by unrest and I think having a survival kit and a family plan (where to meet, how long to wait, etc) is essential. Natural disasters are one good reason for this, but this is a politically unstable world and anything could happen at any moment. I say be a Boy Scout...

    The ‘Wicked Bible’

Well, why not? Sometimes I wonder if that Commandment is the one most ignored, lol. I'd like to know what the monetary value of those few remaining copies is...

Egypt's museums and monuments are deserted

I really hope nothing else gets damaged during these protests. There is such an incredible amount of history in the artifacts of that country and it needs to stay intact.

    Police Brutality?

I've had some rude ones on routine traffic stops, but for the most part they haven't been too bad. I do agree, though, that some of them seriously abuse their power.

What does 2012 mean to you?

Excellent point, purplerain! Everyday I focus on my family and my little corner of the world. IF something globally catastrophic was going to happen in 2012, I wouldn't be able to stop it anyway.

Strikes in Egypt add to pressure from protests

$2 a day - wow!! That's really sad. I just hope there is a way to give these people more freedom without the Muslim Brotherhood taking over.
