An express VIA Rail train from Montreal to Toronto encountered engine or locomotive problems on Sunday afternoon and was forced to stop in Cornwall, Ont., CBC News has learned.
Train 67 left Montreal at 5 p.m. but it had to stop about an hour west of Montreal so engineers could work on it. The train resumed its trip but never returned to its regular speed and had to stop in Cornwall, Ont., said the CBC's John McQuaker, who was one of the passengers.
Passengers had to get off and were waiting for four buses to take them to their destinations in Oshawa and Toronto on Sunday evening, he said.
Phone calls and emails to VIA weren't immediately returned.
