While the U.S. Space Shuttles its fleet again inruilt for the familiar rocket, it is in Great Britain dealing with the next generation spacecraft for Europe. And that is anything but a boring rocket! The Skylon should all be the Space Shuttle should have been.
The Skylon is a more occasions to use spacecraft that can take off from conventional runways to a satellite in space to. The device uses engines that are a cross between a jet and a rocket. Thanks to the jet, the spacecraft in the atmosphere using oxygen from the air.
The company behind the Skylon, Reaction Engines, the ESA has received one million Euros to further develop these engines. Should everything go well, the Skylon launch costs for a significant reduction. A spokesman for the company thinks the Skylon has over ten years airspace can choose.
