Paul warns against U.S. 'empire' dream
Thursday, February 26, 2009

The U.S. congressman Ron Paul says that the U.S. military interventions around the world show that American politicians an "empire" chase.

American statesmen of both sides of the gangway "are interventionist, they all believe in the empire," said the frank Republican congressman in an interview with Russia Today.

Paul made the comments to the questions about President Barack Obama's decision to 17,000 American troops towards Afghanistan troop quotas. The Texas congressman said Obama's decision a "disgrace", saying that the U.S. "has suffered the most because we pay for our foreign intervention overseas.

"But foreign policy is not changed, it does not change with Democrats or Republicans," said Paul.

Afghanistan is the scene of daily violence since the invasion in 2001 of the US-led forces seeking the capture of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and defeat terrorism by removing the Taliban regime.

President Obama has vowed to reverse the direction of the "war on terror" to change by reducing the American military presence in Iraq and towards Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The president says that the rise in Afghanistan "is necessary for the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan to stabilize, the strategic focus has not received direction and funding the urgent needs".

According to officials from the White House will further decisions about sending more troops to Afghanistan after the government a broader review of its policies in the war-torn country has ever complete.
