On February 10, 2013 – Iranian president Dr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad while addressing a huge rally at Tehran’s Azadi (Freedom) Square to mark the 34th anniversary of Islamic Revolution (1979), said that he will not negotiate Iran’s civilian nuclear program with P5+1 (US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) under pressure.

“You pull away the gun from the face of the Iranian nation and I will talk to you in person. Dialogue should be based on justice and respect, not on pressure and imposition,” Ahmadinejad told the crowed.

On February 7, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatullah Ali Khamenei had rejected a proposal from US vice-president Joe Biden and US secretary of state, John Kerry, to hold direct talks between Washington and Tehran.

“The new US officials are repeating their calls for negotiations, and are claiming that the ball is Iran’s court. The ball is actually in the US court and the American leaders should explain what does a call for negotiations, accompanied with threat, pressure and bad intentions, means,” said Ayatullah Khamenei.

Yesterday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the Islamic Republic has no plan to hold talks with the United States. He said that “negotiation with the US is not on the agenda” of any Iranian official.

“Based on a framework defined by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatullah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, negotiation with the US is not possible and is not in the cards unless the Americans reconsider their attitude and apologize to Iran for 60 years of hostile and oppressive actions,” he added.

The US-UN-EU sanctions under Israeli pressure, though severely effecting ordinary Iranians, have failed to pressure Tehran to stop its nuclear program for power-generation and medical usages. A recent poll conducted by US-based Gallop reported that Iran’s nuclear program is supported by more than 90% of country’s population.

Hundreds of thousands of Iranians, carrying portraits of Imam Khomeini and Ayatullah Khamenei attended the rally. They’re chanting anti-US and anti-Israel slogans. Some banners read: “The crippling sanctions have only tickled us”.
