In April 2011 – Turkish President Abdullah Gul in The New York Times’ Op-Ed, warned both Benji Netanyahu and Barack Obama that the “Arab Revolution is aimed at Israel’.

On September 11, 2011 – former ambassador in Washington and head of Saudi intelligence agency, Prince Turki al-Faisal, warned Obama in the New York Times OP-Ed, not to veto Mahmud Abbas’ bid for Palestinian statehood at UN security Council. Not that he is a friend of Palestinians but because he wanted to convey a message to the White House through his friends in the Jewish Lobby. That’s a veto will be a death blow to secular Palestinian Authority (PA) and rise of Iranian influence via Hamas and Hizbullah.

“American influence will decline further, Israeli security will be undermined, and Iran will be empowered, increasing the chances of another war (by Israeli attack against Lebanon, Syria or Iran) in the region,” warned Turki al-Faisal.

Interestingly, In May 2011, Prince Turki had warned Washington on its policies in the region. Speaking at KFCRIS, he told his audience the Western pressure on Iran started on the wrong footing to begin with. “The stick and carrot approach will not work and there has to be a level playing field. You cannot ask Iran to play on one level while you allow Israel, India, North Korea and Pakistan to play on other levels”. Prince also blasted Hillary Clinton for her threats to Tehran and blamed her for damaging the cause of a nuclear-free Middle East.

In April 2011 – Israeli ambassador in Washington, Michael Oren, informed Americans in Ziocon magazine, Foreign Affairs, that after loosing several of its friendly regimes in the Muslim East – The US needs Israel on its side more than ever before.

The American ratings have hit bottom of the popularity barrel in Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Gaza, Afghanistan and Pakistan – mainly due to Washington’s blind support for Israel.

May be it’s time for Obama to learn a few tips from Mahmoud Abbas or Rep. Ron Paul - by supporting Abbas’ bid for a Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders while protecting Israel from the so-called ‘anti-Israel Arab Spring’ – and stop threatening Iran with war. This will surely get Barack Obama a place in history even if it results in one-term presidency or for the worse.
