On February 27, 2011, the President of the European Court of Human-Rights, French judge Jean-Paul Costa told journalists that Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine – are the worse violators of human-rights.
On February 28, 2011 – Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters prior to his departure for Geneva where he will attend a UN Human Rights Council meeting that, in case a list was made for countries with most violation of human rights, Israel would be on top of that list. Davutoglu also added that everyone had to believe in the equality of all humans (an anti-Semitic statement in ADL’s book for sure).
May be Ahmet Davutoglu is not aware of the fact that the Human Rights Watch (HRW) Abusers’ Report 2010 doesn’t even list Israel – and usually never does.
Since March 3, 1924, when the Crypto-Jewish leaders of the Young Turk movement abolished Ottoman Sultanate to AKP’s rise to power in 2002 – Islam, Muslim religious communities and Muslim women were the main target of the secular Kemalist government, army, judiciary and political parties. Arabic language, both in mosques and public, was banned and religious schools and charities were closed. Muslim women were not allowed to wear Hijab in universities, offices and parliament.
Turkey’s Kurd ethnic minority has been target of human rights abuses for over four decades. Turkish Kurds belongs to both Sunni and shia sects. Most of Jewish Kurds like their brethren in Iraq, Iran and Syria – have long migrated to Israel.
When it comes to Israel’s human rights violations – one can write volumes of books – covering from Deir Yassin massacre to Judge Richard Goldstone Report – in between and beyond. According to Jewish-owned New York Times (2006) – Israel is holding over 9,000 Palestinian civilians as prisoners in its jails. The estimate doesn’t includes hundreds of Lebanese civilians kidnapped by the Jewish soldiers and kept in jails. Israel is also known for the target assassination of dozens of Arab resistance leaders.
In May 2010 – Jewish commandos attacked Free Gaza Flotilla at international waters and killed nine Turkish aid workers.
Last December, Iranian General Ali Reza Asgari was tortured to death in Israeli custody.
