The Hamas-Israel cease-fire brokered by Morsi-Hillary puts Egypt as ‘the policeman’ to control smuggling of Iranian medium-range Fajr-5 rockets and deadly anti-tank Kornet missiles to Hamas resistance ally Islamic Jihad via Hizballah and Sudan. The resistance groups used both Fajr-5 and Kornet during 8-day Israeli airstrikes, shocking the Israeli Generals. This is one of Israeli crucial demands for easing of Gaza’s borders blockade.

However, Moussa Abu Marzouk, deputy to Hamas political Guru, Khaled Meshaal, in an interview with AP on November 24 claimed that Hamas will not stop resistance groups rearming themselves.

“These weapons protected us and there is no way to stop obtaining and manufacturing them,” he said. The armed conflict killed 160 Palestinians, mostly civilians and 6 Israeli Jews.

The Zionist entity, as usual, has already started to break the three-day-old cease-fire. The Palestinian Authority’s (PA) UN observer has submitted a complaint to the UN Security Council after Jewish soldiers killed one person and injured 19 at the Gaza border new Khan Younis on Friday.

What Mohammed Morsi and its backers (the US, Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc.) has for Hamas was summed up by a Gulf official jokingly, as quoted by English al-Akhbar daily on November 19: “Morsi told Meshaal: “Come off it, man. We cannot even afford to sweep Egypt’s streets. What do you want? Give up. Cease firing and trust Allah.”

Professor Paul Pillar in his post at The National Interest (November 23), said that Gaza resistance being David against Israel’s Goliath, was the winner by its sheer withstanding pre-planned US-Israel war. He claims that the biggest loser was America’s man in Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas followed by Israel and the united States. Read the article here.

On November 23, Ibrahim al-Amin, editor-in-chief of Lebanese daily al-Akhbar, had warned the Palestinians and their foreign supporters about the US-Israeli plan in motion to demilitarize Islamic resistance groups by creating an Egyptian-lead Sunni block (Muslim Brotherhood, Saudi arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Fatah, Jordan and the Gulf sheikhdoms) against Iran-led Shia block (Islamic Revolution, Hizballah, Syria and Iraq on the margins).

“Hamas will have to choose between Iran and Egypt. If Iran could offer missiles and money, Egypt will offer immunity from Israeli attack, sovereignty over Gaza, and an open door to the world,” wrote Ibrahim al-Amin. Read full article here.

If Sunni-majority Hamas chose to join Egyptian block, it had to come hard on other resistance groups like pro-Iran Islamic Jihad and pro-Assad Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and even Fatah’s al-Aqsa Brigade. This will open the door to a civil war which would be Israel’s biggest dream come true.
